It was only 45 years ago a black man had a dream… “I have a dream today!”, he said… He spoke up for what he felt was right, for how he felt the ways of the day deterred his quality of life…
“I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; “and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.”
His voice was heard, however 5 years after his infamous speech, Martin Luther King Jr. was shot dead. Why??? because he had a vision? a vision of God’s glory across the land? a vision where people actually saw past the color of their skin? a vision where the place we called home was instead an oasis of freedom and justice?
It’s a daggone shame how discrimination and racism lie so deep in the veins of this country. People can be so arrogant and condescending and for what??? why???… IT MAKES NO SENSE.. Right now you guys have no idea how I look, let alone my ethnicity.. (unless you know me, then again you may not even know)
Well anyway this brings me to the point of this entry… A day after the assassination of Reverand King, Mrs. Jane Elliot who taught elementary school in Riceville, Iowa decided she needed to do something.
This is the story of how she changed the lives of her students…
It truly is amazing how far we have come… but there’s no denying that we could all use a lesson from Mrs. Elliot
WATCH THE VIDEO AND COMMENT ON THIS ONE GUYS.
